Activities february 2013

We have decided to send letters to everyone over the age of 60 in the pilot areas, i.e. Eysturoy and parts of the nothern islands (Borðoy, Kunoy and Viðoy). See map below.

The Alzheimer’s Society will be an important cooperator in the project. Together we will circulate information about the project in newspapers and radio and in public forums in the pilot areas.

In addition to technology we plan to establish a team stretching across professions and specific sectors. In cooperation with the dementia clinic in the National Hospital the team will provide advice and guidance to people with dementia, their relatives and employees. We have decided to emphasise the first three modules in the service package.

We have completed the baseline data and have obtained the required permission from the Ministry of Internal Affairs to send out the letters. The permits from the Data Protection Agency are being processed at the moment and are expected to arrive next week.

Next week we are going to have presentations about the project, both in pilot areas and for the director of the Social Agency (Almannaverkið) as well as the Minisister of Social Affairs. Together with the Alzheimer’s Society we will also arrange for information to be provided for the newspapers and the public forums.
